Job Summary
  • The manufacturing engineer is responsible to identify and execute performance improvement projects, engineering studies, and plant trials to meet current year objectives as well as multi-year plans for the manufacturing units in which the individual has responsibilities.
  • Manage and implement process engineering deliverables for projects, ensuring sound safety and engineering principles are applied.
  • Provide technical support for advanced troubleshooting of plant issues and customer complaints and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide data utilizing the site’s management systems to enhance decisions and understand issues and options.
How You Can Be the Impact
  • Identify and conduct performance improvement projects and engineering studies, including plant trials for new products introduced to the site, with the goal of optimizing and improving manufacturing effectiveness and overall site performance.
  • Provide routine technical support to troubleshoot plant issues and implement corrective actions using tools such as RCA, FMEA, others.
  • Leads process improvements (formulations, process settings) resulting from customer issues, yield losses or processing issues in cooperation with operational unit, technology and engineering;
  • Lead and/or support site improvement initiatives and programs with EHS as a foundation.
  • Perform project engineering related tasks contributing with: feasibility studies, pre-engineering (conceptual and basic), supervising the entire process, from conception, construction, commissioning and start-up (pre and post).
  • Proactive support on the identification and resolution of operational issues at the site.
  • Support on technical resolution on customer complaints in your area of expertise, working with process, engineering and quality teams towards solving the issues in a timely manner and implementing improvement opportunities.
  • Implement and control PSM (Policy 8.1 and 8.4) best practices at the site, assuring process safety is followed according SABIC requirements. In addition, implement SOP’s and/or procedures and provide training to key stakeholders for knowledge transfer.
  • Ensure quality and EHSS standards established by the management system are followed. Actively participate in trainings, audits and relevant events, with the ultimate goal of bringing continuous improvements to the site and to the entire management system;
  • Key interfaces include Product Engineers, Quality Analysts and Technicians, Operations and Maintenance leaders/technicians, Project Engineers, Process Engineers, Technology & Innovation representatives, along with frequent exposure to site level management. Individual will also interact with other sites around the globe to translate best practices.
What Matters to SABIC
  • Graduation in Engineering preferred.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing/compounding expertise
  • Strong Project Management Skills
  • Three years (or more) experience in extrusion processing, and/or plastics manufacturing, and/or plastics molding
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to collect, organize and analyze large amounts of data
  • Solid compounding (extrusion) expertise (3+ years of experience)
  • Demonstrated track record of teamwork with all levels.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to assess situations quickly
